Each year The Ridge Art Association presents the art-work of local students in The Young Artists Show, awarding both Middle and High School students in separate categories. High School Seniors are also eligible to win the Portfolio Scholarship Award, which includes 10 Art pieces of their best work and an artist’s essay. This year Marisa Hagman, from Lake Region High School, came on top winning a $1,000 scholarship to Polk State College for her breathtaking art pieces. Marisa Hagman has been doing graphic design for four years and is certified in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign. She is also involved in IMAG Academy at Lake Region High School and has won many art shows, as well as awards from her school. She explains how her parents played a large role in her passion for graphic design and encouraged her to stay motivated and do her best. Today, Marisa is using her graphic design abilities to enhance The Winter Haven Chamber.
