2008 Breast Cancer Awareness Walk - Lake Wales Medical Center

Lake Wales Medical Center’s Healthy Woman program is holding a Breast Cancer Awareness Walk on Saturday, Oct. 4, 2008 in Lake Wales.

The walk will begin and end at Crystal Lake Park, and the route will take walkers through the historic downtown area.

Registration will begin at 8 a.m., and the kick-off ceremonies and walk begin at 9. Following the walk, door prizes will be awarded and participants can view artwork by Winter Haven artist and breast cancer survivor Tinia Clark.

There is no charge to participate in the walk, and registrants are not required to raise funds.

“We simply want to raise awareness about breast cancer in the community, and to provide information about breast health and proper breast care,” said Maryemma Bachelder, Marketing Director at Lake Wales Medical Center.

LWMC’s Radiology Department will offer information on breast self-exams and on digital mammography. The first 250 participants will receive a free T-shirt the day of the race and a goody bag.
