GiveWell Community Foundation announces this year’s recipients of the Community Clinic Grant Program, now in its 20th year. Angels Care Center of Eloise, Central Florida Health Care, and The Haley Center received a combined total of $23,416.58 in grants, which will help provide essential services to uninsured and low-income families. Access to quality healthcare continues to be a challenge for many in our community. To help address this issue, GiveWell Community Foundation (GWCF) is pleased to announce that Angels Care Center of Eloise, Central Florida Health Care, and The Haley Center received a combined total of $23,416.58 in grants through GWCF’s Community Clinic Grant Program. These grants are specifically for nonprofit clinics in the Winter Haven area that offer medical, hospital, or other care for sick and injured people who are not financially able to obtain medical care.
Free clinics provide essential medical, dental and pharmacy care to uninsured and low-income families, regardless of their ability to pay. By helping people stay healthy, they reduce costly emergency room visits, ease the strain on hospitals, and enable patients to work and care for their families. Now in its 20th year, the Community Clinic Grant Program has awarded more than $200,000, thanks to annual funding from the Yardley, England, Trimmer, and Orlich Charities Fund at the Central Florida Foundation, and matching grants from GWCF fundholders. This year’s matching grant was from the Bell-Barnett Family Fund within GiveWell Community Foundation. Learn more about the recipients of the 2026 Community Clinic Grant Program: Angels Care Center of Eloise received a grant that will help cover costs of dental care, eye surgery, and orthopedic injuries for indigent, migrant, and homeless residents. Angels Care Center of Eloise is a faith-based primary care clinic that provides free health care to residents without medical health insurance. Volunteer physicians provide general health care at the facility, and the clinic negotiates with local medical centers to provide specialized services at reduced rates. Central Florida Health Care (CFHC)‘s grant will help fund its Prescription Cost Assistance Program to reduce financial barriers that prevent uninsured and underinsured Winter Haven residents from accessing the medications they need to treat chronic conditions. CFHC serves patients that are either uninsured or underinsured with many who qualify for needs-based public insurance and nearly 90% for whom income information is known are 200% below the federal poverty level. It also offers an array of services under one umbrella to improve access to care, including adult/pediatric primary care, behavioral health care, adult/pediatric dental care, endocrinology, obstetrics, and gynecology, podiatry, optometry services, nutritional counseling, on-site labs and imaging services, and infectious disease testing and treatment. The Haley Center received a grant that will help provide continuous glucose monitoring devices in patients diagnosed with diabetes to allow for the patient and their provider to take a stronger ownership of their diabetes management. The Haley Center is a primary medical facility serving the 200% and below population who do not otherwise have a means to affordable healthcare. Currently, The Haley Center provides pharmacy, radiology, gynecology, endocrinology, infectious disease, dermatology, physical therapy, ophthalmology/optometry, pathology, gastroenterology, orthopedics (to include joint injections) electrocardiograms, pulmonary functions, laboratory testing, and age-appropriate health screenings.
