Wahneta Elementary recently had a special visitor … from space! Aymette Medina Jorge, who was part of a suborbital space flight last year on a Blue Origin New Shepard rocket, was the special guest for Wahneta’s Space Day event.
She visited the school on Tuesday (Jan. 13) to share her knowledge and experiences with students, and even conducted a model rocket launch. She’s also a former PCPS teacher who served at Denison Middle, where she led a team of students who competed in robotics. Medina Jorge was one of six crew members on Blue Origin’s 12th human spaceflight, completed last May. She made history as the first Puerto Rican woman to travel to space.
