The Bureau of Economic and Business Research (BEBR) at the University of Florida has notified the City government that the “official” 2018 population estimate within the City of Winter Haven limits is 42,828. This is a 1,694 increase from last year’s 2017 estimate of 41,134, which reflects a 4.12 % annual growth rate. This is a significant population growth rate and is slightly higher than last year’s 4.07% growth rate. This may be the highest growth rate for a city in Polk County with the possible exception of Davenport which has consistently shown a high growth rate but lower annual numerical increase.
Using 4.0% annual growth rate for the next 2-years (which I believe is reasonable given the previous two years), we will be at approximately 46,322 in 2020, and using a very conservative 3.5% annual rate from 2020 to 2030, we could be over 65,000 in 2030!
