As the mid-week dawns, I want to check in with you to see how things are going? and to share with you the latest information from the Local, State and Federal levels.
Funding: Along with our partners at the U.S. Chamber and the Florida Chamber, we are encouraging Congress to replenish the funding to the various loan programs to meet demand from small businesses in need. For the latest guidelines on the various programs click below:
Coffee & Conversation – “Corona-style” "zoom" with us on Friday any time between 10am and 11am, for a “chat with the chamber”, where we’ll discuss what’s happening in and around your Chamber, the positive things happening in our community and help address some of the questions and challenges you’re facing. If you have any specific topics you want us to cover, please send your notes to firstname.lastname@example.org. Please RSVP for the call using this link: https://zoom.us/meeting/register/tJMod-6urDktGNTBZbRRL2NWNwxOar0nLKbr
I encourage everyone to check the City’s COVID-19 response page regularly for updates.
A reminder that at this time, while employers may choose to issue letters confirming your status with them and your purpose for travel, there is currently no ruling in place at City or State level asking for this. There is also no City or County curfew in place in Winter Haven or Polk County.
Reemployment Applications: Florida’s Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO) have been working around the clock to accommodate the increased demand. In the last week, 72 additional servers were installed to strengthen the platform, which doubled capacity to 120,000 users at a time. The reemployment assistance site is now mobile friendly, and a new app has further increased access points for those filing unemployment claims. You can access the unemployment benefit system here or to download the paper Reemployment Assistance application, visit www.FloridaJobs.org/COVID-19. Paper applications can be mailed to: Florida Department of Economic Opportunity. P.O. Box 5350. Tallahassee, FL 32314-5350.
Our partners at CareerSource Polk are also available to assist with completing and submitting your online application. Visit CareerSource Polk for center locations.
Social Media Toolkit from the CDC: The CDC created a useful social media toolkit to help localized efforts in responding to COVID-19.

Federal Reserve’s Main Street Lending Program: this program opened yesterday to facilitate loans to larger businesses (companies with between 500 and 10,000 employees). The minimum loan amount is $1 million and businesses may use this program in addition to PPP. More details to come on this.
