 Earlier this morning, CenterState Bank announced the acquisition of National Commerce Corporation, Holding Company for National Bank of Commerce, a successful Southeast franchise with a significant presence in Florida, Georgia and Alabama. CenterState’s relationship with the leadership of this Bank goes back 20 years. This group led the former Alabama National Bancorporation before starting National Bank of Commerce. Alabama National, prior to its sale to RBC, was home for several current CenterState employees, including members of the Birmingham Correspondent banking group, Joe Keating and the Wealth Management division, Prepaid card team members, the Vero Beach banking team, two current Board members and our Chief Credit Officer, Dan Bockhorst. Partnering with National Commerce represents an exceptional cultural fit.
National Bank of Commerce is a $4.2 billion bank headquartered in Birmingham, Alabama. Their 37 branches will introduce CenterState to some new markets such as Birmingham, Huntsville and Gulf Shores, Alabama; while also building on CenterState’s existing presence in Tampa, Orlando, Jacksonville and Atlanta. Combined, CenterState will grow to over $16 billion in assets and solidify our position of being the premier community bank in the Southeast. Their goal is to complete the acquisition in the second quarter of 2019 with a conversion scheduled for later in the year.
