Chamber Member Chain Life Winter Haven LLC is dedicated to promoting, revitalizing and enhancing public access to and use of Winter Haven's Chain of Lakes. Their focus is on helping the community capitalize on the significant potential afforded by this incredibly unique local asset. As the "Chain of Lakes City" Winter Haven is home to over 55 lakes, 24 of which are connected by canals that were dug during the height of the citrus shipping industry in the City's early formation.
Now Chain Life is embarking on several canal beautification projects in addition to the many events they host encouraging residents and visitors alike to take part in the "Chain Life."
Pictured above you will see the piece of art from the Chain Life Winter Haven Mural Program. This program will focus on the bridges and canals located on the chain and will be chosen to reflect Winter Haven's history and present. While this project has kicked off with this amazing mural by Scott Eilers as a homage to Cypress Gardens skier, the efforts will be much deeper - aimed at getting rid of graffiti and bringing in beautiful landscaping throughout all of the canals and bridges on the chain.
This effort, they hope, will change the perception of Winter Haven from our residents and visitors from the unique perspective of the water - to welcome watercraft with the excitement of a threshold to a new destination.
To kickstart this effort, Chain Life will be hosting a fundraising event called "The Painted Paddle" on Friday, September 23 at 7 p.m. at Tanner's Lakeside. Tiki torches, live music by 99 in the Shade, light hors d'oeuvres, friends and fun! They will also be auctioning off beautiful canoe paddles that have been painted by local artists. By purchasing these works of art you are also helping us with canal beautification.
Tickets are only $20.00 each and are available online here, by cash or check in the Greater Winter Haven Chamber of Commerce lobby (401 Ave B NW) or over the phone at 863-677-5881.
