We're holding out hope a judge will allow Mr Purcell to continue the project. The baseball fields and antiquated theater and pool have run their course and need to go. Winter Haven would've been reaping tons of new tax revenue from a lakeside village type retail outlet that the city clearly dropped the ball on.
It seems that non-productive taxpayer's dollars continue to be spent. The trail on Lake Howard and the "settlement" with Mr. Purcell look like two such examples. I keep wondering how many miles of sidewalks could be repaired/installed for that kind of money. At least we can now look forward to some critical planning to benefit more citizens, especially should new faces sit in the leadership role at City Hall. Winter Haven continues to thrive in spite of some questionable financial decisions.
