COVID-19: City of Winter Haven Update Based on the guidelines and recommendations of the Polk County Health Department and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis to prevent the spread of COVID-19 (Coronavirus), the City of Winter Haven is suspending all athletic activities, special events and city facility rentals with more than 250 people from Monday, March 16 – Sunday, April 19. Employees are reporting to work as normal and all services will continue to be provided as usual. This includes recreation facilities, the Senior Adult Center, the Winter Haven Public Library and all City administrative offices. Small gatherings and meetings in City facilities under 250 participants will continue as scheduled.
In addition, staff is increasing efforts to continually clean and sanitize all indoor facilities and outdoor park amenities. “For the safety and well-being of our residents, staff and the community, and to protect those most vulnerable, the City of Winter Haven is taking these measures out of an abundance of caution to slow the spread of the COVID-19,” said City Manager Mike Herr.
