 Cornerstone Hospice and Palliative Care seeks volunteers in Lakeland and other areas of Polk County, including Winter Haven, Auburndale, Bartow, and Lake Wales. Volunteer opportunities include patient family respite, facility patient companionship, sewing projects or helping in the office. The organization especially seeks pet therapy teams to visit patients. Additionally, with the growing number of military veterans in their care, Cornerstone Hospice seeks veteran volunteers who will visit and pay special tribute to veterans and their families.
A new volunteer training will take place on Saturday, April 28, 2018, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., 2140 East County Road 540A, in Lakeland. Lunch and refreshments will be provided. Training is free and Cornerstone Hospice volunteers can choose the geographic areas where they’ll support patients. Bilingual speakers are encouraged to join Cornerstone’s volunteer team.
