The economy is growing rapidly here in Florida, and that is presenting small businesses with challenges and opportunities. The Florida Chamber of Commerce has created a Small Business Index Survey to find issues that are influencing Florida small businesses. Results from this survey have shown that small business are concerned about more than just “workforce quality.” Read more below. According to the Florida Chamber of Commerce’s survey analysis, “22 percent of the survey respondents indicated “workforce quality” was their top issue. “Government Regulations” went from being tied for first place in the last survey, and in first place a year ago, to second place in this survey with 16 percent of respondents indicating it was their top issue.” Healthcare costs, economic uncertainty, access to capital and lawsuit abuse are among the other top concerns of small businesses according to this survey. Two years ago, small businesses were confident in the direction that Florida was going in, as far as small businesses, but this survey revealed that “only 15 percent of business are confident,” which is 26 percent lower than two years ago.
