 Winter Haven’s first craft brewery opens its doors on September 17 Grove Roots Brewing Company, led by Winter Haven native Joseph Dunham, will be celebrating its grand opening on Saturday, September 17, 2016. The all day event will run from 2 pm to 11 pm and feature live bands, food trucks and—of course—lots of freshly brewed Grove Roots beer. Inspired by his Winter Haven heritage and a passion for home brewing, Dunham began realizing his Grove Roots vision in 2015. Driven by a mission to revive the region’s historic citrus culture, Dunham has partnered with local growers to create inventive, artisanal beers that celebrate and support our deep rooted relationship with the citrus industry. In addition to a variety of seasonal and special release brews, Grove Roots will serve four flagship beers year round. . .
Located at 302 3rd Street SW in downtown Winter Haven, the 5,600 square foot brewery features a 100 seat tasting room, 10 barrel brew house and a dog friendly outdoor biergarten where patrons can enjoy food trucks, lawn games and more. Guests can expect live music every Friday and Saturday night as well a series of regular events co-sponsored by other members of the community. “Our vision is to be a community and family centric hangout in the downtown corridor,” says Dunham. “We hope everyone will join us in celebrating Winter Haven's heritage with one of our locally produced beers, play yard games, listen to music and enjoy all that we have to offer." Regular hours for the tasting room will be: Wednesdays and Thursdays from 4pm – 11pm Fridays from 4pm – 12am Saturdays from 12pm – 12am Sundays from 12pm – 7pm Brewery tours available upon request. On a side note, when Joe set out on this journey to locate downtown, our City's ordinances did not allow for 'light' manufacturing in downtown. Because of the advocacy of the Chamber, WHEDC and the business-mindedness of the City's Growth Management department, planning commission and City Commission, ordinances were changed to allow for craft-manufacturing in our downtown core.
