Knights of Columbus Council 7091 Elects Slate of Officers Headed by Grand Knight Philip Pierpont7/10/2017  Knights of Columbus Council 7091 of Cypress Gardens elected a slate of officers for the 2017-2018 Columbian Year headed by Grand Knight Philip Pierpont. Pierpont, a retired administrator from Vincennes University in Indiana, who serves as a deacon at St. Matthew Church in Winter Haven, succeeds George Marhefka who will remain active in the council as a member of its Board of Trustees after serving two consecutive terms as Grand Knight.
Other newly-elected council officers are Deputy Grand Knight Ken Nelson, Treasurer Adolfo Arteaga; Warden Scott Sharak, Chancellor Jerry Melnitzke, Advocate Ed Sheehan, Inside Guard John Gilson and Outside Guard Scott Kelso. The elective position of Recorder remains open. Serving in non-elective positions in the new Columbian year, which began July 1, are Financial Secretary Ruben Sanabria and members of the Board of Trustees including Marhefka, Jim Sharak and Sal Porta. In addition to serving the council as Grand Knight, Pierpont will also serve as Scribe of the Frank J. Durbin Fourth Degree Assembly, the patriotic/ceremonial arm of the council. Pierpont and his wife, Lucille, reside in Winter Haven and attend St. Matthew Church.
