LAKELAND MAGIC AND MOSAIC HOOPS FOR HUNGER PROGRAM TO DONATE $50,100 TO FIGHT LOCAL HUNGER3/23/2021  The Hoops for Hunger program was designed in partnership with the Lakeland Magic and The Mosaic Company to help raise money to provide meals to local children in need. For every three-point shot made by the Magic during the 2020-21 season, $150 was donated to the Hoops for Hunger program. The program benefits KidsPACK and One More Child, local non-profits aimed at decreasing food insecurity for the children of our communities. Throughout the regular season, the Lakeland Magic made 167 three-point shots, totaling $25,050 donated.
The Magic continued the excitement into the playoffs and made an NBA G League postseason record 23 three-pointers in their first game. Lakeland kept up their hot shooting all the way through the playoffs to win the NBA G League Finals. To celebrate the championship and in effort to respond to the increased demand of local food insecurity due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Mosaic is doubling their contribution to total $50,100. “Partnering with the Lakeland Magic and supporting the Hoops for Hunger program embodies Mosaic’s mission to be a thoughtful and engaged neighbor who seeks relationships with organizations that are making a difference in the community,” said Morgan Odum, Public Affairs Specialist. “KidsPACK and One More Child have made, and will continue to make, a positive difference in the local community as they work to ensure children and their families do no go hungry.” “Continuing to fight local hunger is one of the Lakeland Magic’s main community initiatives and we greatly value our partnership with Mosaic on this important cause,” said Hans Steinbrenner, President of the Lakeland Magic. “This is the third season of our Hoops for Hunger program and we are so proud of this record donation amount.
