“COWABUNGALOW!” was the greeting we received today at the hard hat tour of the LEGOLAND Beach Retreat located on Lake Dexter in Winter Haven. During the media event, LEGOLAND Florida spokesman David Brady announced that the Beach Retreat will open April 7, 2017, two months ahead of schedule (reservations are now availabe here).
Designed in partnership with Chamber member WMB Architecture, the 83 bright and colorful bungalows (166 hotel total rooms) are built with families and kids in mind. Arranged in 13 "coves", it would be easy for multiple families to stay close to each other. From the porches of the bungalows, parents can relax while watching their kids explore the play areas that will be in the center of each cove. With the unique peninsular shape of this parcel of land, Lake Dexter can be seen from almost every location in the retreat. The vegetation along the shore of Lake Dexter will be landscaped to allow for clear lakeside views, although it will be protected with fencing. A "sandy beach area" will be adjacent to the resort's pool to add to that beach flair at the center of the retreat.
"It's very important to me that we incorporate local contractors in many facets of what we do at LEGOLAND Florida Resort and this was no different, " said Adrian Jones, LEGOLAND Florida General Manager. The new Beach Retreat will create 100 new jobs for Winter Haven and they will hold hiring events early in the new year.
Each room can sleep up to 5 people and rates start at $135 (plus taxes) and may vary depending on seasons, dates, and availability. Much like the LEGOLAND Hotel, each room has a seperate area from kids with a bunk bed, trundle and privacy curtain that separates it from the parents bedroom.
The resort also boasts a LEGO retail shop that is 3x larger than the shop at the LEGOLAND Florida Hotel, delicious choices of restaurant or pool-side food made-to-order, breakfast included in the room rates as well as early access to LEGOLAND and complementary parking at the park. The pool will be heated and is actually larger than the pool at the LEGOLAND Hotel.
This Beach Retreat is the “first-of-its-kind” in North America.. This playful piece of property is about a half-mile away from the theme park, making it a cozy, yet convenient place to stay when planning a trip to the park.
