Meals on Wheels of Polk County (MOW) will stage its 11th annual Silent Auction & Dinner fundraiser on Friday, September 21 at Lake Ashton Country Club. The event will feature food by Longhorn Steakhouse and Olive Garden Restaurant, in addition to music by the Brass Heart Band. Individual tickets and a wide range of sponsorships are now on sale and can be purchased by calling MOW Executive Director Susan Eldridge at 863-299-1616 or sending her an e-mail at <[email protected]>. Online donations can also be made by visiting the MOW website at <www.mealsonwheelspolk.com>.
In addition to purchasing tickets, individuals and businesses are encouraged to donate items for the silent auction. All proceeds raised by the event will be used by MOW to fulfill its mission of providing nutritious, freshly cooked meals for homebound people in the greater Winter Haven/Haines City area, as well as parts of Lakeland. “We call on everyone to make a donation to help Meals on Wheels fulfill its mission by purchasing a ticket and/or donating something for bid at the silent auction,” Eldridge said. “Since we receive no government funding, we are completely dependent on the generosity of individuals, businesses, churches, service organizations and volunteers for our survival.” According to Eldridge, individual tickets are priced at $50 each, with sponsorships ranging from $300 to $5,000. Specific levels of sponsorship, including their cost and what they offer, are as follows: “Ice Cream in the Park” — $300: reservations for 4 guests, quarter page program ad; “Picnic in the Park” — $500: table for 8, website listing, half page program ad; “Can You Dig It” — $1,000: table for 8, website listing, full page program ad, MOW brochure; “Fourth of July” — $2,500: table for 8, website listing, full page program ad, MOW brochure, logo napkins; “Saturday in the Park” — $5,000: table for 8, website listing, full page program ad, MOW brochure, sponsor banners at venue & entertainment.
