The beginning of the new year means a new list of laws going into effect for Floridians. Here is a list of new laws that might impact you. HB 121: Florida’s Child Health Insurance Program, known as KidCare, will increase income limits for enrolled families, as well as add a more gradual payment level increase to the full-pay components of the program.
HB 425: Expanding upon the existing “Move Over” law, drivers will have to move one lane over or reduce speed by 20 MPH for pulled over vehicles with hazard lights on or any emergency signs. HB 1275: Local law enforcement offices can create a “Persons with Disabilities Registry,” of individuals with certain disabilities or conditions to inform and assist officers. An individual can enroll oneself, or a legal guardian may do so on their behalf. SB 76: Florida residents will have the ability to reserve a state-park campsite 11 months in advance, versus non-resident’s 10 months. SB 144: County Courthouses will have to provide at least one designated space for members of the public to express breast milk or breastfeed in private. January 1st marks the beginning of the back to school tax holiday, effective until January 14th; click HERE for more information. Also, the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation approved a 15.1% decrease in workers’ compensation insurance rates.
