High School Students Can Learn About Societal Issues, Environmental, Human Rights ST. LEO, FL – For the second year, Saint Leo University will host a social justice summer camp for students ages 14 to 18, rising high school juniors and seniors. The residential, co-ed camp will run Sunday, June 21, through Saturday, June 27, at University Campus, 33701 State Road 52, St. Leo, FL 33574. The campus is in Pasco County, north of Tampa. The camp is designed for youths who are interested in the fair treatment of all people and creatures, the environment, and laws regarding these issues.
The social justice summer camp will expose students to important societal issues, including human and environmental rights. Campers will: ● Think about and discuss society, history, economy, politics, philosophy, religion, and the world; and, ● Undertake creative inquiries supplemented by photography, video, music, art, poetry and spoken word, theater, and movement. Housing, meals, field trips, and evening activities are included in the $1,350 cost. Campers will earn 40 hours of community service that may be utilized for scholarships such as Bright Futures. Registration is taking place now. A $500 deposit is due at registration with the balance paid in full on or before May 30.
