The new six-story, 75,000 square foot hotel will be located on 5th street, next door and to the north of Gram Parsons Derry Down, a nationally recognized historic music venue, restored by Main Street Winter Haven. (For reference, it is across the street and north from the Chamber of Commerce building). It will have 110 on-site parking spaces.
Mike P. Holtz, CEO and majority owner of St. Petersburg-based MPH Hotels, has developed over 200 hotels in 22 states during his career, including over 50 IHG hotels.
The Winter Haven Staybridge Hotel will be managed by Waterview Hospitality, LLC, an affiliate of MPH Hotels. It is anticipated that the construction of the hotel will begin in the first quarter of 2022, with the hotel being open for business in the summer of 2023.
"Winter Haven is at the heart of one of the hottest markets in America," said Holtz. "We are thrilled to become part of its future, and we believe we have obtained the perfect site for a great hotel."
MPH Hotels was introduced to the downtown opportunity by former St. Petersburg Mayor Rick Baker, who consults for Six/Ten LLC, one of the companies selling the location to MPH Hotels, and an investor in the project.
Bud Strang, SixTen CEO commented "This Staybridge Suites will be an outstanding addition to downtown. It will significantly boost the vibrancy of our city center and is one more example of why downtown Winter Haven is on its way to becoming the coolest small city downtown in Florida."
Bruce Lyon of the Winter Haven Economic Development Council: “MPH Hotels’ high impact investment will add jobs to the local economy during construction and for decades to come.”
