The Kindness Revolution is a national not for profit organization based in Tennessee that is 100% funded by small business partnerships, called “Community Kindness Champions.” In Winter Haven and the surrounding communities, The Kindness Revolution is sponsored by Karen Bryan State Farm. When asked why she decided to partner with the Kindness organization, Karen stated “When they contacted me about my interest in partnering with their organization, it took me about two minutes to say YES! I think most anyone who watches the news these days or even just going about their day-to-day lives would agree, the world could be such a better place if everyone focused on being kind instead of focusing on negativity and blame.” As a Kindness Champion, the mission is simple - to make Winter Haven and the surrounding areas a better place by encouraging and recognizing acts of kindness! There are several ways the insurance office contributes to this mission. First, they partner with local schools, businesses, churches, etc. interested in the mission to spread kindness and stop bullying. Karen Bryan State Farm provides free “kindness bracelets” and kindness packets to those who are willing to participate in the mission to spread kindness. Wear a bracelet and when you recognize an act of kindness, simply pay it forward by passing your bracelet along. Elementary school students LOVE the glow-n-the-dark bracelets!
Most recently, Karen Bryan State Farm partnered with the Winter Haven Chain of Lakes Elementary School in their event “S.O.S. – Season of Service” to be held on November 18. This event is open for any family to attend and plenty of volunteers are needed to stuff 1,000 “blessing bags” and paint 1,000 rocks with inspirational messages. The blessing bags will be donated to the homeless in our community who have been quoted as saying “it’s hard to feel human when you don’t feel clean.” The rocks will be hidden in the Winter Haven area in December during a subsequent “Find the Kind” event. Karen Bryan State Farm has also launched their own painted rock group #karenbryanrocks. As part of team building meetings, Karen and her team paint rocks with encouraging words. The goal is to make someone’s day when they find one of our rocks. To make the S.O.S. – Season of Service event a success, we need the help of our community. Several local dentists have donated toothbrushes and toothpaste, and the Rosen Hotel of Orlando has donated shampoo and soap for the blessing bags. With so many bags to be filled, donations are still needed for the following items: Packages of wet wipes; socks; deodorant; bug spray; flashlights with batteries; rain poncho; combs, first aid kits or Band-Aids; bottled water; juice pouches; granola bars; beef jerky; peanut butter crackers; sandwich cookies; potted meat; trail mix; fruit snacks; gum or mints (any non-perishable food item is appreciated) Donations may be dropped off at Karen Bryan State Farm at 631 E. Central Avenue, Winter Haven. Cash donations are also acceptable. Karen Bryan State Farm will offer free “kindness bracelets” to those who donate. In addition, they will recognize a “Kind Business of the Month” for any donations of $250 or more to be used toward purchasing the drawstring “blessing bags.” For more information or to get involved with The Kindness Revolution, visit their website at www.facebook.com/karenbryaninsurance, call or text at (863) 268-2800 or send an email to [email protected].
