 Following a months-long national search, Historic Ritz Theatre of Winter Haven has selected Alyssa Garber as its new executive director. She comes to the theater from her current position as recreation coordinator for the Four Seasons Resort at Walt Disney World in Orlando. Garber graduated from the Rosen College of Hospitality Management at the University of Central Florida with a degree in event management. She is a Polk County native with experience in sales and design who previously attended Polk State College, where her interest in performing arts venues incubated.
“I am excited to see this theater thrive in a city that has such a unique history,” Garber said in accepting the position. “I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with our community to make this historic jewel even brighter as the years unfold.” Garber takes over from interim director Beth Kingham, who has overseen the theater for the past several months. “We are grateful to Beth, to Theatre Winter Haven, to Main Street Winter Haven and to all the volunteers who have helped shepherd the Ritz through months of Covid-related challenges,” said Ritz president Tom Oldt. “With Alyssa coming on board, we are confident that her infusion of energy, enthusiasm, experience and imagination will further solidify the Ritz’s well-deserved reputation as Winter Haven’s downtown’s stage since 1925.”
