The Wauchula State Bank board of directors has added Gary R. “Rob” Roberts to its senior leadership group. Roberts, the new executive vice president, has been with the bank 22 years, most recently serving as a vice president, commercial loan officer and branch manager of the Sebring-Lake Jackson office, a position he will continue to maintain. Roberts helped start that office in 2000. A second branch, Sebring-Fairmount, opened in 2007. “We opened the first Sebring office to accommodate the large number of our customers who lived in the area,” Roberts said. “It is very gratifying to be a part of this bank and the extraordinary growth we have experienced over the years. We continue working hard to meet customers’ financial needs with honesty and integrity.”
Born and raised in Hardee County, Roberts has had strong family ties to Florida’s Heartland for generations. He joined the Wauchula State Bank family in 1996 after serving 10 years as an officer and Apache attack-helicopter pilot in the U.S. Army. He is a graduate of South Florida State College (SFSC), Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and the Florida School of Banking. He has served in several nonprofit organizations over the years and is currently on the SFSC Foundation board of directors. He enjoys flying, fishing, hunting and spending time with friends and family.
