Webber International University announced today the addition of a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology program to its major lineup at its Babson Park, Florida campus. This popular program has been offered for decades at the school’s Laurinburg, North Carolina Campus. Said Dr. Keith Wade, the University’s President & CEO, “This is something a number of students and potential students have been asking for. While it’s a bit of a deviation from our current offerings at our Florida campus, as a school which prepares leaders, branching out a bit into the other behavioral sciences is a natural.” While each graduate’s career path and trajectory is unique, the major is designed to prepare students to enter graduate school in psychology or related fields, to enter professional training programs, or to obtain employment in a wide variety of fields – from social work to business administration to counseling to sales and marketing – which require experience in the behavioral sciences. Students obtain breadth by taking introductory courses and develop specific knowledge by taking core courses in the following domains of learning and cognition, social processes and personality, biological bases of behavior and mental processes, and developmental psychology.
Students learn how psychological concepts, theories, and research are applicable to individual and societal problems. They also acquire depth by selecting appropriate electives and pursuing research and internship opportunities in consultation with faculty advisors. Wade noted that while “a number of additional majors are in the development or approval stages, this one was an easy process because it’s something we’re already offering, just not in Florida.” The University is currently accepting applications for the January 2019 term. Established in 1927 by Roger Babson as the first college chartered under Florida’s then new charitable and educational laws, and one of the first schools of business for women in the nation, Webber International University now educates men and women from over 50 different nations. Degrees are offered at the associate’s, bachelor’s, and master’s level through traditional day, accelerated night and weekend, and entirely on-line formats. Joining Webber as a branch campus in 2011, St. Andrews University (Laurinburg, NC) is a comprehensive liberal arts school with roots dating to 1896. The University features highly qualified faculty, highly engaged staff, small class size, and a wide array of intercollegiate sports and other extracurricular activities. The University has been recognized as a US News and World Reports Best Regional Colleges: South, a Princeton Review Best Southeastern College, and has earned Petersons’ top marks for academics, value and community. The University is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges, and numerous programs have earned additional programmatic accreditations.
