At its annual meeting in New Orleans on Tuesday, December 11th 2018, the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) elected Dr. H. Keith Wade to its Board of Trustees for a three year term ending in 2021. Wade is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Webber International University, headquartered in Babson Park, Florida. Said Wade, “I’ve served as an accreditation liaison, a peer reviewer, and even a presenter at the annual meetings, but this is a brand new adventure for me. It’s an honor to be involved with SACSCOC in this capacity. For students, parents, and employers, regional accreditation is an indication of a quality education… simple as that. While I’m certain it’s going to be more work than I imagined — the value of regional accreditation is that it is an exhaustive, top to bottom, ‘leave no stone unturned’ review — I’ll have the privilege of serving with some of the most skilled professionals in the world. I am grateful to my colleagues for the vote of confidence.”
As stated on the SACSCOC website, “the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges is the recognized regional accrediting body in the eleven U.S. Southern states and in Latin America for those institutions of higher education that award associate, baccalaureate, master’s or doctoral degrees. The Board of Trustees is the representative body of the College Delegate Assembly and is charged with carrying out the accreditation process.” Wade has served Webber International University for 15 years, the last 10 as its president. He holds a bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degree in Management, is a Certified Management Accountant (CMA), is Certified in Financial Management (CFM), is a Six Sigma Black Belt and is certified in Lean. He served on the 2018 Board of Examiners for the US Department of Commerce’s Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award (the nation’s highest award for quality). Established in 1927 by Roger Babson as the first college chartered under Florida’s then new charitable and educational laws, and one of the first schools of business for women in the nation, Webber International University now educates men and women from over 50 different nations. Degrees are offered at the associate’s, bachelor’s, and master’s level through traditional day, accelerated night and weekend, and entirely on-line formats. Joining Webber as a branch campus in 2011, St. Andrews University (Laurinburg, NC) offers a comprehensive liberal arts education and has roots dating to 1896. The University features highly qualified faculty, highly engaged staff, small class size, and a wide array of intercollegiate sports and other extracurricular activities. The University has been recognized as a US News and World Reports Best Regional Colleges: South, a Princeton Review Best Southeastern College, and has earned Petersons’ top marks for academics, value and community. The University is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges, and numerous programs have earned additional programmatic accreditations.
