 All Winter Haven area families are invited to participate in the third annual “Trunk or Treat” Halloween celebration from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, October 31 on the grounds of St. Matthew Church at 1991 Overlook Drive in Winter Haven. The event, which is free of charge, is being sponsored for the enjoyment of the entire community by the St. Matthew Youth Ministry and Knights of Columbus Council 7091. “Come one, come all. We extend an invitation to all families in the Winter Haven area to participate in this fun-filled event,” said Youth Ministry Coordinator Adrienne Geraldi, noting it will feature plenty of candy for kids, costume and trunk decorating contests, games led by the church ministry and a corn hole tournament run by the K of C. Hamburgers, hot dogs, barbecue, shaved ice and other refreshments will be available for purchase at food trucks from Twisted Plates, P.J.’s BBQ and Kona Ice.
People who wish to reserve a space for their car so they can participate in the costume/trunk decorating contest following the theme of their choice should visit the office at St. Matthew Church or call 863-324-3040 between the hours of 8:30 am and 5:00 pm, Monday through Thursday. Donations of candy are also welcomed. During the event, families can go “trunk to trunk” collecting candy while also enjoying the themes, games, contests and food.
